Georges Grellet was born on October 4, 1869 in Tours, France. Grellet created the majority of his artwork between 1897 through 1937. He illustrated for a wide range of French fashion magazines, and was often commissioned to produce advertisements. Eventually he gravitated to etchings in the boudoir style, and his first commercial etchings appear around 1923. These etchings were of the highest quality, on the best rag-paper of the time. His last etchings appear to be in 1937, but his watercolors can be found well into 1940. He died at the age of 89, on March 30, 1959. Although is work is widely known, he does not have the same level of fame as Louis Icart.
