Yvonne Jacquette depicts our urban world from a vantage point high above us. From her perch, she brings order and context to the crazy world we have made. Neon signs, strings of cars on dark highways, bright lit windows viewed from the top of a skyscraper or from an airplane window become the dashes of color Jacquette uses to describe light and space in her paintings and prints.

Yvonne Jacquette’s newest prints are “Lost View: Dawn” and “Lost View: Moonlight”, atmospheric glimpses of New York City as electric lights replace daylight in the buildings and on the streets. Working from the earthbound perspective of her studio window she observed new buildings rose over time to obscure her view. In these prints she has documented the view before it was completely obscured. Using dense saturated colors she has created very rich lithographs full of the glow of the dawn and moonlight. The colorful painterly marks depicting the windows and reflections are like miniature abstract paintings.

Yvonne Jacquette received the Painters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1990. She is represented in many public collections including The Metropolitan Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Staatliche Museum, Berlin, and The Whitney Museum of American Art."
